NATURAL HABITAT:
These frogs are commonly found in east and central Madagascar. They inhabit rainforests, and prefer habitats bordering fresh water streams. Occurs throughout the mountain ranges and down into the lowlands of the island, and can tolerate a moderate range of temperatures.

BEHAVIOR:
Both genders establish small territories, and require relatively large enclosures for such small frogs. These frogs are active primarily during the day, foraging for a wide range of small invertebrates. These invertebrates are what help make the frog toxic, and the bright colors on its body serve as a warning to potential predators to stay away.
CAPTIVE ENVIRONMENT:
Use full spectrum lighting 12-14 hours per day. Provide dark hiding places for this species eg., cork bark. Use a low wattage heat lamp. Wash hands after handling.
TEMPERATURE:
Maintain day temperature range between 76-82 degrees F. Maintain night temperature range between 72-75 degrees F.
HUMIDITY:
This species requires moderate to high levels of humidity.
WATER REQUIREMENTS:
Provide a large shallow bowl for drinking and soaking. Mist enclosure every 3-4 days.
NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This species is a carnivore (meat eater), likes small insects, flies, mosquitos. Dust food with calcium. Always offer variety for proper nutrition.
