Professional Breeders Series
PROFESSIONAL BREEDERS SERIES Various Authors Eco Herpetological Publishing
This month, instead of focusing on a single book, we will take a look at a new series being released by Eco Publishing. Their "Professional Breeders Series" is a constantly growing collection of books all focusing on a single species, or closely related groups of species. Each book has been written by an expert in that area, and in most cases by individuals who have decades of experience working with the animals about which they are writing.
The production quality and layout of these books are superb. All are printed on heavy, glossy paper, and are soft cover. Although the actual organization of the information varies from book to book, each volume is complete and very thorough. Most titles include chapters on natural history, selection, housing, feeding, sexing and breeding, and health issues. In addition to these "standard" sections, readers will be pleased to find a myriad of other fascinating content dispersed throughout the series. Of particular interest is the chapter in Soderberg’s corn snake book that deals with recovering escaped snakes.
Currently titles include: Bearded Dragons (and frilled dragons), corn snakes, chameleons, ball pythons, leopard geckos, crested geckos, aquatic turtles, sulcata tortoises, tarantulas and scorpions, and crocodilians. I suspect that we will continue to see new titles released in the months to come.
Overall, these books are highly recommended. They average 90 pages in length and are stuffed full of valuable information. These books would be ideal for first time reptile owners as the information is presented clearly with a minimum of technical language and most titles apply directly to the most common and popular species.
Most titles are available from LLLReptile.com or by calling 760-439-8492. At only $8.99 each, these are a great value, and are sure to be a fantastic addition to your reference library. Order your copies today!
