Natural habitat
This arboreal (tree dweller) inhabits the tropical rain forests of Madagascar. When captive, adults require a 30 gallon enclosure or larger.
Behavior
Males can become territorial, separate from other males. Usually tame but frequent handling will stress the animal. This species is nocturnal (active primarily at night).
Captive environment
Use full spectrum lighting 12-14 hours per day. Must have dark hiding places while lights are on. Provide several climbing areas on branches, logs, & plants.
Temperature
Maintain day temperature range between 80-86 degrees F. Maintain night temperature range between 72-78 degrees F. Provide a well ventilated habitat.
Humidity
This species requires moderate to high levels of humidity.
Water requirements
Mist the enclosure daily for moisture and high humidity.
Nutritional requirements
This species is a carnivore (meat eater). Always offer variety for proper nutrition. Eats variety of larger worms (earthworms, meal/wax worms). Dust food with calcium and vitamins. Eats crickets and insects.
