Natural habitat
This tree dweller occupies the tropical rain forests of Madagascar. It likes to climb through dense foliage. When captive, adults require a 20 gallon enclosure.
Behavior
Males can become territorial, separate from other males. Usually tame but frequent handling will stress the animal. This species is nocturnal (active primarily at night).
Captive environment
Use full spectrum lighting 12-14 hours per day. Provide a basking area with access to a cooler zone. Provide several climbing areas on branches, logs, & plants.
Temperature
Day temperature should be gradient from 78 to 85 degrees F. Maintain night temperature range between 72-80 degrees F. Provide a well ventilated habitat.
Humidity
This species requires a constant high level of humidity.
Water requirements
Mist the enclosure daily for moisture and high humidity. Provide a large shallow bowl for drinking and soaking.
Nutritional requirements
This species is a carnivore (meat eater). Always offer variety for proper nutrition. Eats variety of larger worms (earthworms, meal/wax worms). Dust food with calcium and vitamins. Likes to eat crickets and other small insects.
